In 2018, a new adventure was started when 10-acres with a small house was purchased in southeast Michigan. A single parent with a 9-year-old in tow, with nothing but determination and grit to turn a barren blank property into a small ranch. Fast forward to today, we have numerous rescue residents' here at the ranch, whom we are pleased to introduce to you!!
Cookie - 31 yo mare
Cookie our eldest rescue is 31 years young! Cookie was pulled from a kill pen situation in 2025 where she was emaciated and poorly cared for. Her puller was amazing at getting her on a good start to gaining weight and getting her proper care.
When Cookie came to us, she still had a fair amount of weight to gain. She began therapy to help with her tight joints and arthritis and has been undergoing hoof correction due long term damage that was causing lameness.
Between proper nutrition and care, Cookie has progressed well in the last year of her residency at the ranch. Aside from some mild arthritis, she doesn't act or look at day over 20.
Zora - 22 yo mare
Zora originally came from Bowie Texas auction in 2022. This beauty has an unknown condition that has led her on a long medical journey that has resulted in retiring to the ranch December 2025.
With light exercise and a change in diet, Zora has progressed well. While she has been cleared for riding, we have chosen to continue light riding on the ranch until the 2027 riding season.
Until then, Zora will continue to work on muscle conditioning and building her top line. Between proper nutrition and care, Zora has a bright outlook in 2027.
Bear
Bear, our longest residing rescue, was abandonded in the streets of Detroit. Joining the ranch in 2020, at just under a year old, Bear takes pride in herding balls, not cows, despite being a Red Heeler/Kelpi cross.
When he's not chasing balls, he watches the sky for potential threats, alerting the ranch of an inbound visit from the redtail who resides in the woods.
